Bloomington Youth Soccer Club (BYSC) is a nonprofit organization run by parent volunteers. The Annual Volunteer Program helps keep costs down and provide more soccer opportunities to kids from Bloomington and surrounding communities.
1. Each family registered in the summer BYSC traveling program must volunteer at least 5 hours per calendar year (January 1 to December 31). Each family registered in the summer BYSC United Juniors program must volunteer at least 2.5 hours per calendar year. Although families can volunteer for more hours, the commitment will not exceed 5.0 hours per family per calendar year.
2. The volunteer hours can be performed by any member of the family as long as the activity selected is appropriate for the age and maturity level of the person performing the activity. Children under the age of 14 must be supervised closely by an adult parent or guardian.
3. Families must register with DIBS to get credit for their volunteer hours. Team Managers and/or the BYSC Volunteer Coordinator will help families without computer/internet access. Families must show “good faith” by selecting volunteer hours in the Dibs system by May 15 (or make alternate plans through their Team Manager or the Volunteer Coordinator).
4. Volunteer hours are typically hours of service to the club rather than service to a particular traveling or recreational team. The only exception to this will be 10 hours per traveling team to be divided as the team sees fit, but generally with 5 hours going to the Team Manager and 5 hours going to the Treasurer/Tournament Director. Teams must decide how this time is to be allocated (in hour increments) and notify the Volunteer Coordinator by May 1.
5. If a family wants or needs to opt out of the Annual Volunteer Program requirement, it can do so by paying the buyout fee of $50.00 (traveling) or $25 (United Juniors) by May 1, 2012. Money from buyouts will be used to provide scholarships to BYSC families and to offset program costs.
6. BYSC will make every reasonable effort to facilitate each family fulfilling its Annual Volunteer Program requirement. For assistance, email the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteers@bysc.org or talk to your Team Manager.
7. BYSC reserves the right to impose a penalty on families which do not participate in the Annual Volunteer Program either by volunteering time for club sponsored opportunities (through the DIBS system) or by choosing the Volunteer buyout by May 1. Penalties might include:
--Withholding player passes in current and/or future seasons (until the Buyout is paid or time volunteered).
--Charging the family a Double Buyout Fee ($100) at the end of the Fall season.
