BYSC Goalkeeper Training is open to all club keepers and those interested in trying the position

Training Led By Mark Erdman

Mark Erdman BYSC Goalkeeper Coach

All sessions will be lead by club coach Mark Erdman. Mark has coached for the past 13 years, from rec leagues up to U19. He has also had the privilege to run or help run multiple soccer camps in Maine and New Hampshire with the focus being on training the goalkeepers. Mark also successfully started a youth soccer league in Ohio.  He played soccer (mainly Keeper) from the time he was 5 up until college when an injury forced him to no long be able to play competitively.

2015 BYSC Goalkeeper Training Program

BYSC is offering FREE goalkeeper training for all club keepers as well as those players interested in giving the position a try.

All sessions from 5 to 6 p.m. at the West St. Paul Sports Center. No registration required, but please RSVP to help our coaches know how many to expect.

The seven-week program includes:

  • Week 1 - January 3
    Basic Fundamentals (diving, control)
  • Week 2 - January 10
    Hand work (punching, catching, throws)
  • Week 3 - January 17
    Foot Work (punt, goal kick, pass back)
  • Week 4 - January 24
    Positioning/Placement (shots, crosses) 
  • Week 5 - January 31
    Game placement (free kicks, corners, in game play)
  • Week 6 - February 21
    Attacking the ball (breakaway, shots, crosses)
  • Week 7 - March 7
    Recap of pervious 6 weeks work on specific needs addressed. 
    Games to test skill set of what has been learned.
