Hello BYSC Families,
A few weeks ago, I shared the news with you that Sean McKuras had resigned his position as Director of Coaching with BYSC to pursue an opportunity in his home community of Woodbury. Since that time, the BYSC Board of Directors met to talk about both the short term and long term needs of the club with regard to Sean's departure. Over the next few months, there will be several discussions and opportunities for members to provide input on the direction the club is looking to go with the coaching and player development roles. In the short term, I am pleased to announce the plans that we now have in place to move the club forward as we approach the upcoming spring/summer season.
With the approval of the BYSC Board, I was given the authority to fill the duties that Sean performed through the end of August with four candidates who had stepped forward to ask how they could help. This allows us time to consider what direction is best for the club while at the same time ensuring that the day-to-day duties of the director of coaching are being done. Below is a short summary of the individuals and their roles beginning March 1.
Brian Jungwirth - Interim Director of Coaching
Brian grew up and still lives in Bloomington and is in his fourth year of coaching for BYSC. A four-year soccer and basketball player at Augsburg, Brian has a Masters of education in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports management. In his role, Brian will be responsible for day-to-day duties that include scheduling, managing coaches and trainers, 2015 player evaluations and managing staff.
James See - Interim Player Development Director U9-U12
James lives in Bloomington and is in his 8th year of coaching for BYSC. James is also the Girls Varsity Soccer Coach at Shakopee High School and a K-5 elementary teacher. An accomplished player and coach, James will be responsible for developing and supporting a curriculum for players in the U9-U12 age groups, working with coaches to implement the curriculum and working with the Age Group Directors to assist with individual team issues, player recruitment and retention.
Eric Johnson - Interim Player Development Director U13-U19
Eric grew up in Bloomington and has been involved with BYSC since 1993 either as a player, referee or coach. Eric teaches at Valley View Middle School and is the Boys Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach at Bloomington Jefferson High School. An accomplished player and coach, Eric will be responsible for developing and supporting a curriculum for players in the U13 and older age groups, working with coaches to implement the curriculum and working with the Age Group Directors to assist with team issues, player recruitment and retention.
Rachel Loftus - Interim Player Development Director Recreational
Rachel lives in Bloomington and has played and coached for BYSC. An accomplished player and coach, Rachel is a teacher for Bloomington Public Schools (BEACON ALP) and is in her fifth year with BYSC. In her role, Rachel will be working with the BYSC Recreational Program Director to implement a curriculum for the United Juniors and Kickers Programs and to monitor player retention and staff development.
I am very excited to share this news with you as these four individuals have demonstrated their willingness to help us keep the momentum going that Sean helped us generate. You will be seeing these folks more and more over the next few weeks. As an organization, BYSC will continue to provide updates on the long-term strategy for the club. If you have questions or would like to provide feedback on the direction the club goes long term, please feel free to drop me an email.
Thank you for your continued support of BYSC.
