Kickers Recreational Soccer

Kickers Format Emphasizes Fun

BYSC Recreational Soccer

No prior soccer experience is needed. Each week's session is planned by BYSC's Recreational Player Development Director in coordination with BYSC's Director of Coaching.

BYSC's Recreational Kickers Soccer Program is open to all children ages PreK through 4th Grade and can be a great entry point for your child into team sports. Each weekly session includes:

  • 25 minutes of technical instruction taught through small sided games. Players will learn the basics of dribbling, passing and shooting.
  • 30 minute games with PreK and K teams playing 3v3 or 4v4 and the older teams playing 7v7 as numbers allow.
  • Each week, two teams will train together for the first half of the session and then play each other during the second half.

Fall 2017 Kickers

  • Saturday's September 9 through October 14
  • PreK and K Teams 9 a.m.
  • 1st Grade and Older Teams 10:15 a.m.

Your Opportunity To Volunteer For Your Child's Team

Kickers trainers and staff

Parent Trainers

BYSC uses a combination of parent trainers and staff trainers to coach our Kickers players.

Our parent trainers:

  • Are approved by our Recreational Player Development Director
  • Participate in our Train The Trainer Program
  • Receive weekly session plans to use each week of the season
  • Receive support from our club staff on the field
  • Can get a fill in staff trainer to cover any sessions they need to miss

Other Roles

We are always looking for volunteers to assist with check in, social events during the season, uniforms, and participation awards. Whatever your skills and time available, we can use them.

Parent Managers

Each Kickers team needs a parent manager whose primary role is to change the players in and out of the game portion of each week's session. No prior soccer experience is required. This is a great way to meet new families and to ease your child into the activity by being closer to the game.

Parent Manager Duties:

  • Sit with player's on the sideline during games
  • Teams will likely have 3-4 players sitting out at a time. When trainer calls for new players, simply change those sitting out with those who have been playing
  • Optional duties can include making a snack schedule or scheduling play time post game on the playground at the park.
